Wings Etc. expands Kickin’ Chipotle Chicken Sandwich for a limited time across all locations

Globally inspired chipotle-adobo flavors were a hit in a limited test earlier this year

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Wings Etc. is expanding its trial of a savory new chicken sandwich and smoky-sweet pineapple margarita across all locations beginning August 27.

The two menu items performed well during a limited-time test in  Cape Girardeau, Dexter and Jackson, Missouri, that began in May. The sandwich quickly climbed to the top five sandwiches on the menu, and guest feedback showed it had a 97 percent reorder rate.

The Kickin’ Chipotle Chicken Sandwich debuts a Chipotle Aioli sauce crafted from a blend of pureed chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, mayo and a hint of garlic. The sauce yields a mellow, smoky heat and delivers on the enduring Wings Etc. promise of “Big Flavor.”

The new Chipotle Aioli sauce is served atop Wings Etc.’s signature all-white-meat crispy chicken cutlet with pickles, cheddar cheese, lettuce and tomato on a toasted Brioche roll.

The Pineapple Chipotle Margarita pairs the sweetness of Piña Reàl™ pineapple syrup with the zing of lime sour and puréed chipotle peppers in adobo sauce, garnished with a lime wedge. Small-batch Teremana™ Blanco Tequila, founded by Dwayne Johnson and made in the Jalisco Highlands, is the ultra-premium foundation for this spicy-sweet cocktail. The margarita is rimmed with Tajín® Clásico seasoning, providing a citrusy counterpoint to the cocktail’s smoky sweetness.

Chipotle Aioli and pineapple chipotle satisfy consumer desires for global flavors, engaging a broad base of adventurous eaters led by Millennials. The appeal of new food experiences grows further when presented in a familiar format, such as atop Wings Etc.’s popular chicken sandwich or in a margarita. More complex globally inspired dishes can be difficult to make at home, so Wings Etc. is innovating to meet the demand.[1]

“The success of the limited trial confirms our guests’ desire for ‘Big Flavor,’” says Wings Etc. CEO Rob Hensmann. “We expect an enthusiastic response to the Kickin’ Chipotle Chicken Sandwich and Pineapple Chipotle Margarita as we roll it out to all locations. Our menu continues to evolve with changing tastes while maintaining the fun, flavorful favorites our consumers know and love.”

The Kickin’ Chipotle Chicken Sandwich includes a side of curly or straight fries; guests can customize the entrée by substituting chargrilled chicken or choosing from Wings Etc.’s variety of delectable sides.

The Kickin’ Chipotle Chicken Sandwich and Pineapple Chipotle Margarita will be available for lunch and dinner starting August 27, 2024.
